Job Summary

This role is a fixed-term, full-time position as a State-Certified Food Chemist within the Chemical and Veterinary Investigation Office (CVUA) Freiburg, focusing on public health consumer protection. The successful candidate will coordinate investigations, perform chemical analysis, and provide legal assessments of food samples, particularly concerning pesticide residues in animal products, supporting the European Union Reference Laboratory (EURL) activities. Key responsibilities include method development, validation, analytical quality assurance (DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025), and drafting legally sound expert opinions. Candidates must possess a completed Food Chemistry degree, including the State Examination, fundamental knowledge of food law and analytical chemistry, and strong organizational and teamwork skills. This position offers a meaningful and responsible role in a highly qualified team environment.

Required Skills

Education

Completed degree in Food Chemistry including the State Examination (Staatsexamen).

Experience

  • Professional experience in (Ultra-)Trace Analysis with modern analytical techniques is desirable
  • Experience in the validation of examination procedures is desirable
  • Experience in sample planning and routine sample processing
  • Experience in drafting legally sound expert opinions (gerichtsfeste Gutachten)
  • Experience in the supervision of Food Chemists during practical training (Praktikum)
