Job Summary

This role is for a Senior Research Engineer specializing in magnetic microsystems and clean room microfabrication, focusing specifically on the FAMES pilot line project developing self-biased circulators using ferrite materials. The successful candidate will be responsible for the development and optimization of complex cleanroom processes, including lithography, etching, sputtering, and thin film depositions of dielectric and magnetic materials. Day-to-day tasks involve creating device process flows, executing detailed device-level characterization (RF, VSM, FMR, SEM), documenting results accurately, and collaborating with internal and external partners. Key requirements include a PhD or equivalent experience in microfabrication and magnetism, proven experience with wafer-level fabrication (preferably 200 mm), and strong English communication skills. This position offers the opportunity to take ownership of complex technical work within a state-of-the-art laboratory environment in Austria.

Required Skills

Education

PhD in a related field focusing on microfabrication and magnetism, or MSc with equivalent relevant work experience

Experience

  • Professional experience in cleanroom microfabrication, magnetism, and/or nanoparticles
  • Experience with wafer-level fabrication, preferably on 200 mm wafers
  • Experience contributing to clean room related projects with a focus on delivering milestones and results
  • Evidence of cleanroom work (e.g., scientific publications or PhD thesis)
