Job Summary
This Senior System Engineer role focuses on ensuring the continuous and secure operation of critical backup environments for one of Germany's largest and most complex IT infrastructures, supporting the Federal Armed Forces (Bundeswehr). The successful candidate will be responsible for proposing and implementing measures to maintain operational stability across all backup environments and applications. Day-to-day tasks include operating and monitoring backup software, resolving complex and extensive error conditions, and managing backup-related incidents and changes. This position requires expertise in system administration, specifically IBM Spectrum Protect, and involves working independently in 2nd Level Support. It's an attractive opportunity for experienced IT specialists who want to contribute to national security by modernizing and operating high-availability, geo-redundant IT services.
Required Skills
Education
Completed relevant vocational training or IT-related university degree
Experience
- At least 3 years of relevant professional experience in IT or related fields
- Experience working independently in 2nd Level Support for backup environments
- Experience in leading small teams, potentially in substitution cases

- Willingness to work full-time in Bonn, Munich, Strausberg, Wilhelmshaven, or other BWI locations nationwide.
