Job Summary

This Postdoctoral Researcher role is part of the Collaborative Research Centre CRC 1625, focusing on the atomic-scale understanding and design of multifunctional compositionally complex solid solution (CCSS) surfaces for sustainable energy systems like electrolyzers. The successful candidate will be responsible for synthesizing and processing homogeneous thin films using sputtering, heat treatment, and ion irradiation to create single-crystalline films with specific properties. Day-to-day tasks include advanced characterization of these films using techniques like EDX, XRD, EBSD, AFM, XPS, AES, and LEIS, and ensuring samples are suitable for atomic-scale experiments. The role requires a highly motivated scientist with strong knowledge in materials science, practical experience in thin film synthesis (preferably sputtering and epitaxial growth), and a proven track record of peer-reviewed publications. You will work in an interdisciplinary environment, collaborating closely with partner groups in Bochum and Düsseldorf to advance scientific findings in electrochemical materials and materials informatics.
