Job Summary
This pivotal role as a Policy Advisor for Administrative Modernization is situated within the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs (BMAS) in Berlin, focusing on the legal and administrative aspects of skilled worker immigration. The core mission is to support the creation of the new Work-and-Stay Agency (WSA) by streamlining, digitalizing, and centralizing complex administrative processes across federal and state levels. Key responsibilities include optimizing labor migration procedures, preparing the WSA's administrative framework, coordinating inter-ministerial workshops, and managing external service providers. Candidates must possess a strong academic background—either an advanced degree in Public Management or qualification as a fully licensed lawyer—combined with a minimum of two years of professional experience in public service or ministerial environments, specifically involving cross-agency transformation projects. This is a unique opportunity to directly influence and modernize German governmental structure and digitalization efforts.
Required Skills
Education
Scientific university degree (Master's, Magister, or University Diploma) in Administrative Science or Public Management (grade 'good' or better) OR Fully qualified lawyer with eligibility for judicial office (two state legal exams meeting specific grade requirements).
Experience
- At least two years of professional experience in public service or ministerial settings
- Experience in accompanying inter-agency transformation projects
- Experience in coordinating and steering cross-agency transformation and change processes (Desired)
Languages
Additional
- Position is initially limited to 3 years. Foreign educational qualifications require documented proof of equivalence with a German degree.
