Job Summary

This Research Associate position at TUD Dresden University of Technology involves crucial work within a large consortium project focused on quantifying the impact of drought stress and forest thinning on European beech stands in Saxony, Germany. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and executing regular Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) campaigns, processing multispectral and thermal infrared drone and satellite imagery, and developing robust procedures to derive crown water status and morphological condition. A key focus is the development of data-driven approaches for scaling single-tree vitality results to stand and landscape scales for extensive monitoring. This role requires a Master's degree in Remote Sensing or a related field, strong programming skills (R, Python), and mandatory possession of a German Class B driver's license. Required Skills

Education

Master’s degree or equivalent in Remote Sensing, Geoinformatics, Data Science, or Computational Environmental Sciences or a related field

Experience

  • Proven interest or experience in working with and processing multispectral satellite data
  • Proven interest or experience in working with and processing UAV-based photogrammetric or LiDAR data
  • Proven ability to work independently in diverse, interdisciplinary teams
  • Scientific publishing experience is desirable
