Job Summary
This leadership role involves establishing and managing the Artificial Intelligence Competence Team within the Federal Office of Administration (BVA) in Cologne, Germany. The successful candidate will be responsible for the disciplinary and technical leadership of the team, developing comprehensive AI strategies, and establishing governance structures for the implementation and use of AI and automation solutions across the BVA. Day-to-day tasks include recruiting personnel, organizing team collaboration, identifying application potential for AI, and ensuring compliance with ethical and legal standards. The role requires strong leadership experience, proven expertise in AI, and the ability to manage complex projects and external service providers. This position is central to the BVA's digitalization strategy, aiming to improve processes, enhance efficiency, and continuously develop administrative services using cutting-edge technology.
Required Skills
Education
Master's degree or equivalent (Diplom) in Computer Science, Business Informatics, Natural Sciences, Mathematics, Economics, Administrative Sciences, or a Master's/University Diplom in another field combined with required AI experience.
Experience
- 2+ years of demonstrable professional experience in the field of Artificial Intelligence
- 2+ years of demonstrable professional experience in leadership responsibility (technical and disciplinary) of complex (sub-)projects, especially for the introduction of AI tools in digital processes
- 2+ years of demonstrable professional experience in steering external service providers
- Active leadership role in promoting equality, gender, and diversity competence
- If degree is not in relevant technical field: 3+ years of demonstrable professional experience in Artificial Intelligence

Additional
- Unrestricted willingness to travel on business; Willingness to undergo an extended security clearance (Ü2) according to the Federal Security Clearance Act (SÜG); The application process will be conducted in German, requiring appropriate language skills.
