Job Summary

Join the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) as a Software Developer in Meckenheim, supporting the State Security Police Department's digital investigations. This role involves developing software-supported internet analysis tools, focusing on legal, technical, and professional requirements, while adhering to BKA's software development standards. You will lead and implement integration projects for custom software solutions (including proprietary, open-source, and in-house developments) using agile methodologies. Key responsibilities include managing the full software lifecycle—from implementation and operation to optimization, quality assurance, and IT support. The position requires staying current with technical advancements like AI, LLMs, DevOps, and Cloud technologies, and providing technical training and support to colleagues, making it a challenging and mission-critical role within a federal authority.

Required Skills

Education

Completed university degree (Diploma (FH), Bachelor) in Computer Science or a comparable degree from a MINT field with an IT focus, OR a completed vocational training in an IT field.

Experience

  • At least 3 years of professional experience in a relevant IT-focused occupation (required if educational qualification is a vocational degree)
  • Foundational knowledge or experience in developing complex software projects
  • Experience in projects related to software virtualization, containerization, and cloud services

Languages

German (Very good oral and written expression)

Additional

  • Willingness to undergo an expanded security clearance with security investigations (SÜG §10). Willingness to travel domestically occasionally (approx. 5-10 times per year for 1-5 days). Willingness to work flexible hours and perform ordered overtime due to peak workloads and operational demands. Must agree to the possibility of being appointed as a civil servant (Beamter) up to salary grade A12 BBesO, provided all legal requirements are met.
