Job Summary

This role involves leading the development and implementation of semantic technologies within the Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing (BAM) in Berlin. The Senior Data Scientist will be central to defining robust data modeling practices (schemas, taxonomies, ontologies) to integrate heterogeneous research data across all BAM disciplines. A key focus is achieving semantic interoperability through standardization and developing software solutions, APIs, and platforms that enable AI-driven analyses and automated research workflows. The professional will collaborate with leading scientists, coordinate activities in externally funded projects (e.g., Platform MaterialDigital), and actively engage with the broader semantics community. This position offers an opportunity to shape the digitalization of materials research in an interdisciplinary, creative, and dynamic eScience team, contributing significantly to technical safety standards in material science and engineering.
