Job Summary

This role is for an experienced Senior Toxicology Project Lead specializing in Eye and Mental Health, representing nonclinical drug safety within Boehringer Ingelheim's project teams from discovery through regulatory submission. The successful candidate will act as the Safety Science Lead for Mental Health, Eye Health, and Emerging Areas within Clinical Pharmacology and Non-Clinical Safety Sciences. Day-to-day responsibilities include advising on nonclinical safety for new drugs, covering testing strategy, study design, and toxicological assessments, as well as supporting the preparation of development plans and regulatory documents. Key requirements include a DVM, MD, or PhD with specialization in toxicology, board certification, and several years of regulatory nonclinical drug safety experience, particularly in Eye and/or Mental Health. This position offers a hybrid work setup (2-3 days on-site) and the opportunity to drive innovative therapies in areas of high unmet medical need within a major biopharmaceutical company.

Required Skills

Education

DVM, MD, or PhD with specialization or strong working experience in toxicology; Board certified and regulatory accepted toxicologist

Experience

  • Several years of experience in regulatory nonclinical drug safety (toxicology) for human pharmaceuticals
  • Proven track record in preparing regulatory documents (e.g., IB, IND, DSUR, CTD)
  • Experience interacting with global health authorities
  • Disease-area knowledge in at least one Therapeutic area (Eye health and/or Mental health)
  • Experience handling complexity in drug development and managing interfaces
