Job Summary

The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation is seeking a dedicated Program Officer to manage the selection process for prestigious international research grants and awards, specifically focusing on Material Sciences within the Physics, Engineering, and Mathematics department. This role involves taking technical responsibility for incoming applications, including identifying suitable external peer reviewers, preparing summarized assessments for selection committees, and serving as the primary contact for committee members in Material Sciences. The ideal candidate holds a PhD in Engineering, Physics, or Chemistry with a focus on Material Sciences, possesses relevant research and professional experience (e.g., in foundation work or international science management), and demonstrates strong presentation, decision-making, and negotiation skills in both German and English.
