Job Summary

This role involves managing the selection process for prestigious international research grants and fellowships within the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, specifically focusing on the fields of Physics, Engineering Sciences, and Mathematics, with a special emphasis on Materials Science. The Program Officer will be the primary technical contact for applicants and committee members, responsible for professionally assessing and managing approximately 2,900 annual grant applications. Key day-to-day tasks include determining suitable external expert reviewers (peer-review), drafting comprehensive summaries of applications for selection committees, and supporting host institutions regarding research security. The ideal candidate holds a PhD in a relevant engineering or science field, possesses professional experience in science management or foundation work, and demonstrates strong leadership potential and negotiation skills in both German and English.
