Job Summary

This role is for a Scientific Expert within the State Criminal Police Office (LKA) of Lower Saxony, specifically in the Forensics Department (Biology), focusing on Molecular Genetics and DNA Analysis. The expert will manage forensic trace cases, including those related to simple and medium-level crimes, and independently lead a processing team. Key responsibilities involve creating court-admissible expert reports, defending findings in court, and managing computer-aided analysis programs and laboratory hardware/software. The ideal candidate must hold a PhD in Life Sciences (Molecular Genetics, Biochemistry, or Cell Biology) and possess deep practical experience with advanced molecular biology techniques, including PCR-STR fragment analysis and modern DNA sequencing. This position offers the opportunity to work in a DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025 accredited routine laboratory, contributing significantly to criminal investigation and justice in Lower Saxony.

Required Skills

Education

Successful completion of a university degree in Life Sciences (Molecular Genetics, Genetics, Population Genetics, Biochemistry, and/or Cell Biology) followed by a doctorate (Dr. rer. nat. or equivalent academic degree)

Experience

  • Practical experience with molecular biological analysis methods (PCR-STR, qPCR, DNA sequencing)
  • Experience with analytical and preparative large devices (Genetic Analyzer, laboratory automatons)
  • Professional experience working in a DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025 accredited routine laboratory
