Job Summary
This critical role involves preparing and executing complex maintenance and repair work on high-voltage electrical systems across the 50Hertz grid, focusing specifically on DC (HVDC) and various Grid Compensation Systems (StatCom, MSCDN, rotating phase shifters). The engineer is responsible for planning and performing detailed diagnosis, testing, and cleaning, coordinating external service partners, and contributing to procurement processes. A central component of the job is frequent, weekly, multi-day business travel with overnight stays throughout the entire 50Hertz network area (Eastern German states and Hamburg). This position offers the opportunity to minimize system downtime and maximize plant availability, providing continuous professional growth aligned with the technical demands of the energy transition. Key requirements include a degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, professional experience in maintaining electrical systems, and strong German (C1) and good English (B1-B2) language skills.
Required Skills
Education
Completed degree in Electrical Engineering, Process Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
Experience
- Professional experience in maintenance of electrical or power plant systems
- Experience in handling standard work equipment (measuring/testing technology, work platforms, lifting equipment) (Advantageous)
- Knowledge of DC systems / compensation systems / power plant adjacent subsystems (Advantageous)
- Experience in condition assessment and repair of technical components (Advantageous)
