Job Summary
This role seeks a skilled Cloud Engineer to design, implement, and maintain a scalable, secure, and efficient cloud infrastructure for the 'Health + Life Science Alliance Data Space,' a critical inter-institutional platform facilitating data sharing and joint analyses across major biomedical research institutions in the Rhine-Neckar region. The core system will primarily leverage AWS services (EC2, S3, Lambda, IAM, VPC, RDS). Key responsibilities include developing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform or CloudFormation, implementing container orchestration with Kubernetes (EKS) or Docker, and enabling hybrid cloud solutions by integrating AWS with on-premise resources. The ideal candidate possesses a degree in computer science or related field, strong AWS expertise, and experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and ensuring compliance with strict data governance and security frameworks (GDPR, HIPAA). Required Skills
Education
Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
Experience
- Strong experience with AWS services
- Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar)
- Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, AWS EKS, or similar)
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools
- Professional experience in industry standard DevOps tasks and processes
- Experience with hybrid cloud environments and integrating on-premise resources (Preferred)
- Previous experience in academic research environments or health/life sciences data infrastructure (Preferred)

- Must provide proof of immunity against measles (due to Infection Protection Act regulations); Position is initially limited to 2 years with the possibility of prolongation.
