Job Summary

This Research Associate position at the Technical University of Dresden focuses on developing a detector design for radiographic measurements of high-level radioactive waste transport and storage containers. Key responsibilities include conducting Monte Carlo simulations using GEANT4 to model gamma and neutron radiation, optimizing collimator and moderator geometries, and determining the detector's sensitivity to potential fuel shifts. The role also involves carrying out comparative laboratory test measurements, analyzing data from measurements on loaded containers in interim storage, and developing methodologies for reconstructing neutron activity distribution. Candidates must possess a very good university degree (Master's or equivalent) in Physics, deep knowledge of radiation physics and measurement technology, and practical experience with the GEANT4 simulation code. This is a full-time, fixed-term position until the end of 2028, offering an excellent opportunity for further scientific qualification, typically leading to a Ph.D.
