Job Summary

The City of Essen is seeking two dedicated Civil Engineers to join the Road and Traffic Department, focusing on the planning, management, and supervision of urban demolition and site clearance projects. In this crucial role, you will act as a (partial) project lead, overseeing large municipal measures including building demolitions, deep foundation work for school development, and general site development. Day-to-day responsibilities involve coordinating all project phases, from initial concept and planning to construction supervision and final billing. This includes commissioning and coordinating external specialized planners and construction services, conducting preparatory measures like pollutant analyses, and addressing environmental and historical concerns (e.g., unexploded ordnance, former mining, contaminated sites). The ideal candidate holds a degree in Civil Engineering and possesses at least three years of professional experience in deep foundation projects and deconstruction measures, coupled with strong knowledge of relevant German construction and procurement regulations (VOB, HOAI, AHO).
