Job Summary

The Leibniz Institute for Plant Biochemistry is seeking a Biological-Technical Assistant to join the Phenylpropanoid Metabolism research group, focusing on the biosynthesis and accumulation of piperine in black pepper. This is a diverse and varied role, requiring expertise in both molecular biology and analytical chemistry techniques. Day-to-day tasks include cultivating microorganisms and plants, performing gene cloning using Golden Gate technology, expressing genes/enzymes, and supporting protein analysis via SDS-PAGE and Western Blots. A key responsibility is analyzing enzymatic reactions using advanced chromatographic methods like GC- and LC-MS. The role also involves essential laboratory organization, including chemical inventory management and maintaining an electronic lab book. Candidates must have a professional qualification in biology, biochemistry, or chemistry, practical experience with molecular biology methods, and expected proficiency in written and spoken English.
