Job Summary

This PhD position focuses on developing and applying advanced molecular tools to enhance precise genome editing in plants, specifically targeting the modulation of DNA end-joining (EJ) processes to boost homology-directed repair (HDR). The successful candidate will design, clone, and test synthetic tools, apply the Bindcraft pipeline for de novo peptide binder design, and conduct inhibitor screening using reporter lines in Nicotiana benthamiana and Arabidopsis thaliana. This research aims to establish precise, transgene-free genome editing as a routine method in higher plants, contributing significantly to plant breeding and fundamental research. The role requires a Master’s degree in biology or a related field, very good English skills, and enthusiasm for scientific, independent, and solution-oriented team work in a modern, international research environment.
