Job Summary

The Fraunhofer Institute for Process Engineering and Packaging (IVV) is seeking a Laboratory Lead for Microbiology within the Food Quality Preservation department in Freising. This role involves the technical and organizational leadership of the microbiology lab, focusing on securing long-term food quality through applied research and industrial projects. Day-to-day responsibilities include planning and executing microbiological test series, coordinating analyses (e.g., germ count determination, resistance tests), and working safely with Risk Group 1 and 2 microorganisms. The successful candidate will act as a key contact for industrial clients, providing consultation and participating in project meetings. Required Skills

Education

Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Food Technology, Biology, or a comparable field

Experience

  • Several years of professional practice in a microbiological laboratory
  • Experience in experimental planning, statistical evaluation, and scientific documentation
  • Foundational knowledge in handling Risk Group 2 microorganisms and quantitative microbiological methods
  • Initial leadership experience or clear willingness to take on a leadership role (advantageous)
  • Experience in industry or applied research (advantageous)
