Job Summary
This role involves providing essential IT support for the Testing Office for Geotechnics, Soil Mechanics, Rock Mechanics, and Tunneling, focusing on research and project-oriented work related to soil use in construction. The Technical Staff Member will be responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of IT infrastructure, including Microsoft and Linux servers, employee and student workstations, and computers used in testing facilities. Key responsibilities include handling hardware and software issues, coordinating network operations with central IT, managing data backup and security, and assisting with the procurement of new IT equipment. The ideal candidate possesses strong IT organizational skills, fundamental networking knowledge, expertise in Windows (Client and Server) and Linux, and excellent communication and service orientation to support staff, students, and external partners.
