Job Summary

This role supports the Biophysics Chair at FAU, focusing on the physical principles governing biological systems, including cell mechanics, 3D cell migration, and cell-matrix interaction. The assistant will be responsible for diverse laboratory tasks, including culturing and isolating primary human cells in an S2 environment, performing molecular biology techniques such as cloning and protein expression, and executing immunological and histological work like immunohistochemistry. A critical component involves independent planning and execution of experiments, meticulous documentation, and managing laboratory organization, material orders, and safety protocols, including the disposal of hazardous waste. The ideal candidate holds a BTA qualification or equivalent, possesses strong organizational skills, is stress-resistant, and has fluent proficiency in both German and English, enabling effective collaboration within a demanding research environment.

Required Skills

Education

Completed training as a Biological Technical Assistant (BTA) or comparable qualification; Proof of expertise for conducting animal experiments (desirable); Training as a Laser Protection Officer (advantageous); Proof of expertise according to the Chemicals Prohibition Ordinance (desirable)
