Job Summary

This role involves serving as an Operations and Project Engineer specializing in electronics within the technical building management division of the Central University Administration (ZUV) at Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU). The successful candidate will independently develop, plan, and execute projects related to electrical engineering and signaling systems, including creating specifications, tender documents, and managing project supervision through acceptance. A key responsibility is ensuring compliance with operator interests and technical standards during the planning and commissioning of new constructions and renovations, working closely with state construction authorities. Furthermore, the role involves strategic operational planning, continuous development of operating and maintenance plans, and documenting assets within the Facility Management system. This position also requires serving as the Deputy Head of the Department, which includes technical and disciplinary personnel responsibility for up to 30 employees, making prior leadership experience beneficial. The role requires a degree in Electrical Engineering and excellent German language skills (C2 level).

Required Skills

Education

University degree (Bachelor of Engineering / Bachelor of Science / Diploma Engineer [FH]) in Electrical Engineering or a comparable field, or a comparable qualification with relevant professional experience.

Experience

  • Professional experience in planning, commissioning, and service of building technical systems, preferably in highly technical structures
  • Experience in technical operational management
  • Experience in the application and/or introduction of CAFM systems (advantageous)
  • Initial leadership experience (desirable)

Additional

  • Must possess a Class B driving license. Position is initially fixed-term (BEFRISTET). Knowledge of accident prevention regulations in electrical engineering is advantageous.
