Job Summary

The Technician in Biomedical Engineering will be based at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU), supporting cutting-edge research in Neurophysiology and Brain-Machine Interfaces within the Department of Artificial Intelligence in Biomedical Engineering (AIBE). Daily tasks involve the technical management, installation, maintenance, and repair of sophisticated equipment, including 3D printers, CNC milling machines, and various physiological measurement instruments (EEG, EMG, EKG). A core function is assisting with the design, assembly, and prototyping of project-specific hardware, such as exoskeletons and intelligent wheelchairs. Candidates must possess completed vocational training as an Electrician or Mechatronics Technician, coupled with proven expertise in CAD, electronics, and measurement technology. Excellent German (C2) and very good English (C1) skills are mandatory. This role offers a dynamic, innovative, and interdisciplinary environment, providing the chance to contribute directly to the advancement of assistive systems and scientific research.

Required Skills

Education

Completed vocational training as an Electrician, Mechatronics Technician, or comparable qualification.

Experience

  • First professional experience after vocational training
  • Proven experience in design (CAD), electronics, and measurement technology
  • Experience in software programming (Python, Matlab or similar) (Desirable)
