Job Summary

The Johann Heinrich von Thünen Institute for Agricultural Technology in Braunschweig is seeking a part-time Technical Assistant (50% working hours, 19.5 hours/week), initially limited until July 31, 2027. This role is crucial for supporting research into the effects of agricultural and forestry use on soil physical properties and developing strategies to prevent soil degradation. Day-to-day tasks involve conducting complex soil physical experiments and analyses in the laboratory, such as measuring hydraulic conductivity and water retention curves. The assistant will also support field sampling of soil in forests and agricultural areas, help establish new laboratory techniques, and manage lab organization, equipment maintenance, and calibration. The ideal candidate holds a state-recognized technical qualification (e.g., BTA/CTA) or equivalent, possesses strong organizational skills, and is comfortable with both laboratory work and fieldwork, including multi-day business trips for sample collection. This position offers engagement in relevant policy and practice-oriented research within an interdisciplinary team.

Required Skills

Experience
