Job Summary

This role involves serving as a key team member responsible for the installation, administration, and continuous improvement of complex LAN and WAN infrastructures for over 300 locations within the Saxon Police network. The Administrator will manage critical systems, including the police network within the Saxon Administrative Network (SVN 2.0), the BOS network, and the developing Wide Area Network (WAN PolSN). Daily tasks include advanced monitoring, system updates, implementing network access protection, and designing Software-Defined Network (SDN) technologies. The successful candidate will utilize expertise in Cisco components, VoIP environments, and network security techniques to provide 3rd-level support, resolve complex issues, and contribute significantly to the expansion of the police's dedicated wide-area network, ensuring data sovereignty and the operational readiness of critical infrastructure. This is a crucial, permanent position offering meaningful work in public safety.

Required Skills

Education

Completed university degree in IT (e.g., Computer Science, Information and Communication Technology, Telecommunications) or a comparable field, OR a completed vocational training in the IT sector lasting at least three years.

Experience

  • Professional experience in operating complex LAN and WAN infrastructures
  • Professional experience in operating complex Cisco components
  • Professional experience in the Voice Over IP (VoIP) environment
  • Experience in Performance and Capacity Management, System Management, Monitoring tools, and IT Service Management
  • Familiarity with security techniques (system hardening, access protection)
