Job Summary

This role involves high-impact research and development within a federal network, focusing on analyzing mobility behavior using advanced Data Science and Machine Learning techniques. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and validating AI-based procedures to automatically identify routes, stages, and propulsion types from GPS data collected via a dedicated app. Day-to-day tasks include designing suitable data systems for storing and processing large data volumes, continuously evolving the methodological models and system architecture (especially the API), and providing scientific guidance and testing for external algorithm development. Key requirements include a Master's degree in a technical field (Computer Science, Mathematics, or Electrical Engineering) and expertise in implementing AI-based algorithms. This position, limited to four years, offers a unique opportunity to contribute significantly to the national 'Mobility in Germany' long-term study and disseminate findings through scientific publications and data visualization.

Required Skills

Education

Completed scientific university degree (Master's or equivalent) in Computer Science, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or a comparable field.

Experience

  • Professional experience in developing and implementing algorithms and AI-based procedures
  • Professional experience in the application of Machine and Deep Learning frameworks (desirable)
  • Experience in the conception of software architectures and backend systems (desirable)
  • Experience in the design of REST-APIs and management of large data volumes (desirable)
  • Experience with modern development and automation tools (Git, Docker) (desirable)
