Job Summary

This role involves supporting the Functional Diagnostics Unit at the National Center for Tumor Diseases (NCT) Dresden, focusing on generating and functionally characterizing patient-derived 3D tumor models both in vitro and in vivo. The technician will be responsible for processing tumor tissue, expanding 3D tumor models, and performing cellular and molecular characterization, including testing therapy sensitivity. Key duties include conducting laboratory work under R2 standards, implementing established protocols, and developing new protocols for primary cell culture of rare tumor entities. The ideal candidate must have a completed qualification as an MTA, BTA, or Biology Laboratory Technician, possess extensive experience in cell and molecular biology techniques (cell culture, microscopy, FACS), and be proficient in standard molecular biology methods (PCR, Western Blot). This is a vital, fixed-term position (until June 30, 2027) contributing directly to cutting-edge cancer research at one of Europe's largest cancer research centers.

Completed vocational training as Medical Technical Assistant (MTA), Biological Technical Assistant (BTA), or Biology Laboratory Technician, or comparable qualification

Experience

  • Extensive experience in cell and molecular biological work under R1/S1 and R2/S2 conditions (desirable)
  • Proficiency in molecular biology standard methods (desirable)
  • Experience with animal experimentation using mice
