Job Summary

This role is a fixed-term Research Associate position at the Bremen University of Applied Sciences, focusing on developing generative AI models within the Institute for Underwater Acoustics, Sonar Technology, and Signal Theory (IWSS). The core mission involves contributing to a publicly funded project aimed at creating a reliable system for the faster and more efficient detection and classification of marine ordnance (legacy pollution) using sonar images. Day-to-day responsibilities include developing generative AI models for synthesizing acoustic images, applying object recognition and classification methods, and creating real-time capable procedures for unmanned underwater systems. The associate will also be responsible for publishing research findings, preparing for and participating in measurement campaigns, and optimizing various data sources. Candidates must hold a scientific university degree (Master's/University Diploma) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a comparable field, achieved with above-average results, and possess strong skills in signal processing, algorithm implementation, and digital image processing. Fluency in both German and English is highly desirable for this international research environment.
