Job Summary

This role involves contributing to a publicly funded research project focused on developing reliable systems for the detection and classification of marine ordnance (legacy pollution) using sonar images, aiming for faster and more efficient clearance. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing generative AI models to synthesize acoustic images, creating real-time procedures for application on unmanned underwater systems, and participating in the preparation, execution, and evaluation of measurement campaigns. Key requirements include a university degree (Bachelor or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, strong knowledge of multi-dimensional signal processing, digital image processing, and pattern recognition. The position is part-time (50%, 19.6 hours/week), limited until December 31, 2028, and offers the opportunity to pursue a part-time Master's degree while working. Candidates must possess good German and English skills (minimum B2 level) and be willing to participate in ship expeditions and international conferences.
