Job Summary

This role offers a Master's student the opportunity to conduct cutting-edge research in experimental physics, focusing on ion traps and quantum computing technologies. Day-to-day responsibilities include the installation and setup of a cryostat, electronics, and optics to create a testing environment for ion-trap chips. The student will be responsible for characterizing the performance of the ion trap tester, measuring critical parameters such as cooling rate, heating rates, and coherence time. The core output of this minimum 12-month assignment is the completion of a Master's thesis, summarizing findings, reviewing the state of the art, and comparing experimental results. This position is ideal for highly motivated students pursuing Physics, Photonics, or Electrical Engineering, who possess strong academic results, proficiency in Python, and hands-on laboratory experience, offering real impact within an international team.

Pursuing a Master's degree in Physics, Photonics, Electrical Engineering, or a similar field (strong academic results required)

Experience

  • Experience working in a lab environment (Basic competence)
  • Experience with CAD programs (Preferred)
  • Ability to independently structure research and writing processes
