Job Summary

This role involves coordinating the financial administration of externally funded research projects, specifically those under the German Federal and State Excellence Strategy, at the Justus Liebig University Giessen. The successful candidate will be the primary point of contact, offering comprehensive advice and support to internal and external scientific project leads regarding the financial and administrative execution of their research endeavors. Key responsibilities include establishing an internal controlling system for fund forwarding, settlement, and verification, continuous independent budget monitoring, forecasting, and preparing fund requests and statements of expenditure in strict adherence to DFG (German Research Foundation) guidelines. This position requires strong expertise in commercial accounting, financial management, and specific knowledge of DFG funding regulations, along with excellent communication skills in both German and English to effectively liaise with project partners.

Required Skills

Education

Completed university degree in Business Administration or a vocational qualification in office/administration with relevant supplementary qualifications (e.g., further education or long-term professional experience).

Experience

  • Professional experience in the financial administration of research projects
  • Long-term professional experience in office and administration (if degree is not present)
