Job Summary

The City of Herford is seeking a dedicated Circular Economy Manager to join the Mayor's Office staff for a fixed 3-year term. This pivotal role involves developing, coordinating, and implementing concepts and specific projects to promote the Circular Economy within the municipality. Day-to-day responsibilities include creating the city's overall Circular Economy concept, coordinating initiatives focused on waste prevention, reuse, and recycling, and identifying opportunities to integrate circular practices among local businesses and residents. A key function is public outreach, involving raising awareness and educating various stakeholders—including government agencies, companies, and non-profits—on the benefits of sustainable practices. Candidates must demonstrate strong project management skills, conceptual and analytical abilities, and either hold a completed administrative qualification (Verwaltungsprüfung II) or a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Environmental/Climate Protection or Sustainability Management. This position offers significant creative scope and responsibility for driving municipal sustainability goals.

Successfully completed administrative training (Verwaltungsprüfung II / formerly Angestelltenprüfung II) OR a successfully completed university degree (Bachelor's level) in Business Administration, Economics, or a comparable field focusing on Environmental/Climate Protection, Sustainability, Resource, or Energy Management.
