Job Summary

This full-time, one-year fixed-term position, serving as parental leave cover in the Mayor's Office of Herford, requires a dedicated Climate Protection Manager. The core responsibilities involve coordinating and implementing measures derived from the city's climate protection concept, focusing heavily on residential building refurbishment, centralized information management, and promoting renewable energy use. Day-to-day tasks include organizing advisory activities, managing public relations campaigns and competitions related to climate goals, and initiating energy-saving projects within municipal facilities like schools and kindergartens. A critical component is networking with key climate stakeholders—politics, administration (including urban planning and mobility departments), the public, and project partners—to ensure coordinated action. The role demands strong project management skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to monitor progress, control implementation steps, and regularly update the CO2 balance to meet climate protection targets.
