Job Summary

This role involves critical laboratory and organizational tasks within the Central Food Sample Acceptance unit of the State Office for Agriculture, Food Safety, and Fisheries in Rostock. The Laboratory Technician will be responsible for the entire sample lifecycle, including acceptance, quality-compliant interim storage, internal forwarding to testing labs, and managing transport logistics. Day-to-day duties include meticulous data entry and documentation using LIMS, controlling incoming sample documents, and ensuring quality assurance through equipment calibration, control, and documentation (e.g., refrigerators, temperature measuring devices). A significant part of the role involves preparing standard and specialized culture media, including needs assessment, ordering, quality control, pH correction, sterilization, and documentation. Candidates must possess a completed qualification as a Laboratory Technician in Biology or Dairy Industry, proven experience with culture media, and proficiency in LIMS and MS Office applications. This is an attractive, permanent, part-time position (35 hours/week) offering flexible working hours and thorough onboarding.
