Job Summary

This role offers a highly specialized Postdoctoral position within the QUEST Institute for Experimental Quantum Metrology, a joint facility of Leibniz University Hannover and the PTB (Germany's National Metrology Institute) in Braunschweig. The successful candidate will be instrumental in cutting-edge research supporting the QuantumFrontiers Cluster of Excellence. Day-to-day tasks involve developing advanced quantum algorithms for the spectroscopy of highly charged ions (HCI), optimizing systematic uncertainties in HCI clocks, and conducting high-precision frequency comparisons to analyze data for new physics, such as variations in fundamental constants. This position requires a highly engaged and independent researcher with a strong background in optical frequency metrology, ion traps, and quantum optics, offering the unique opportunity to shape world-leading standards in quantum metrology.

Required Skills

Education

Completed university degree (Diploma/Master) with a very good doctorate in Physics

Experience

  • At least three years of Postdoc experience with significant scientific impact
  • Experience in optical frequency metrology and ion traps
  • Professional experience in developing and conducting high-precision experiments
