Job Summary

This role involves administering a highly secure Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) platform within a private cloud environment for the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA). The System Administrator will be crucial in planning, administering, and consulting on IaaS solutions, primarily leveraging VMware technologies (ESXi, VSAN, NSX) to support applications for the BKA and other federal and state police forces. Day-to-day tasks include automating infrastructure processes using tools like Ansible, Packer, or Terraform, ensuring the high availability, integrity, and performance of the virtualization environment, and defining infrastructure solutions (servers, storage, networks) within a secure overall architecture. This position requires flexible working hours, including 24/7 on-call readiness (typically a 7-day shift every six weeks), and offers the chance to contribute significantly to public safety by collaborating on critical national and international security infrastructure.

Required Skills

Education

Completed university degree (Diploma [FH] or Bachelor) in Computer Science or a comparable degree from a MINT field with an IT focus, OR equivalent skills and experience with a completed vocational training in an IT field.

Experience

  • Professional experience in providing and managing VMware clusters (On Top requirement)
  • Professional experience with configuration management tools like Terraform and Ansible (On Top requirement)
  • Professional experience in network and security concepts (On Top requirement)
  • Minimum of three years of professional experience in an IT-focused profession (if holding a vocational training degree)
  • Minimum of six years of professional experience in an IT-focused profession (if holding a non-IT related degree)
