Job Summary

Join the Digital Innovation department at the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) as an IaaS System Administrator, bringing your technical expertise to a high-security environment critical for public safety. You will be responsible for planning, administering, and consulting on a highly secure Private Cloud IaaS platform based on VMware technologies (ESXi, VSAN, NSX). A core function of this role is ensuring the performance, integrity, and 24/7 availability of virtualized environments, supporting both police and administrative applications. You will drive infrastructure modernization by automating processes using tools like Ansible, Packer, and Terraform, and contribute to the technical design of scalable and resilient IT procedures across multiple geographic locations. This role requires deep expertise in virtualization, networking, security concepts, and a commitment to regular on-call readiness.

Required Skills

Education

Completed university degree (Diploma [FH] or Bachelor) in Computer Science or a comparable MINT degree with an IT focus. Alternatively, vocational training with relevant professional experience is accepted.

Experience

  • At least three years of professional experience in an IT-focused field (if relying on vocational training)
  • At least six years of professional experience in an IT-focused field (if relying on non-IT degree/training)
  • Expertise in the deployment and management of VMware Clusters
  • Experience with configuration management tools (Terraform and Ansible)
