Job Summary

This role, situated within the Cluster of Excellence “Responsible Electronics in the Climate Change Era (REC²)” at TUD Dresden University of Technology, focuses on cutting-edge research in sustainable electronics. The successful candidate will primarily develop magnetron sputter epitaxy (MSE) as a core technology for producing group III-nitride semiconductors, specifically focusing on strain management, buffer structure development, and AlGaN growth for heterostructures used in power electronics. This is a full-time, three-year position (with a possible one-year extension) offering the opportunity to pursue a PhD. The role requires collaboration with diverse scientific teams, including those in sustainability and social sciences, promoting an interdisciplinary approach to responsible electronics. Ideal candidates possess a Master's degree in Physics or Material Science, an independent work attitude, and fluency in English.

Required Skills

Education

University degree (Master or comparable) in Physics, Material science, or related field. Opportunity to obtain further academic qualification (PhD).

Experience

  • Previous experience with magnetron sputtering (beneficial)
  • Previous experience with growth of thin films (beneficial)
  • Previous experience with epitaxy (beneficial)
  • Previous experience with power electronics or III-nitride based semiconductor materials (beneficial)
  • Previous experience with material characterization (beneficial)
  • Professional experience in basic and application-related research
