Job Summary
This role involves acting as a key driver for innovation within a federal agency focused on future cybersecurity. The Engineer will systematically monitor national, European, and international research and technology landscapes, evaluating trends and innovation potential in cybersecurity and related key technologies (e.g., Cryptology, Human-Machine Interaction, Secure Communication). Day-to-day tasks include designing and executing strategic foresight projects, trend analyses, scenario planning, and technology impact assessments to identify groundbreaking research fields. The successful candidate will draft proposals for initiating new projects, manage external service providers, and actively build and maintain innovation ecosystems and networks with research institutions and startups. Essential qualifications include a Master's degree in a technical engineering field (such as IT, Nanotechnology, Electrical Engineering, or Software Engineering), strong communication and moderation skills, and fluency in both German and business-level English. This is a full-time, initially two-year fixed-term position based in Dresden, requiring high performance, agility, and a willingness to travel.
Required Skills
Education
Master's degree (or Diplom-Universität) in a technical engineering field, such as Information Technology, Nanotechnology, Security Technology, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering, Robotics, Software Engineering, or Automation Technology.
Experience
- Interest and ideally experience in cybersecurity or related key technologies
- Methodological knowledge in trend and foresight analysis, monitoring, scouting, scanning, and strategic foresight (desirable)
- Experience in applied basic research, R&D, or innovation management (desirable)
Languages
Additional
- Initial fixed-term contract for 2 years; Willingness to travel nationally and internationally; Must be willing to undergo a security clearance check (Sicherheitsüberprüfung) according to the Security Clearance Act (SÜG); Location is Dresden.
