Job Summary

This role seeks an experienced Science and Matrix Leader to drive the discovery and development of next-generation large molecule biotherapeutics within Roche’s Pharmaceutical Research and Early Development (pRED) organization. The successful candidate will leverage a strong background in cell biology, specifically neuroscience, and extensive industrial drug discovery experience, spanning from target assessment to Entry into Human. Day-to-day responsibilities include leading engaged, cross-functional matrix teams, defining cellular assay strategies for neuroscience projects, and overseeing data analysis for mode-of-action elucidation and lead selection. A key focus is the conceptual development and setup of novel functional cellular assays using cutting-edge readout technologies like flow cytometry and advanced fluorescence microscopy, utilizing physiologically relevant human model systems such as iPSCs and organoids. This position offers the chance to transform science into medicines within a culture defined by curiosity and responsibility, making a significant impact on unmet healthcare needs.

Required Skills

Education

PhD in Biology (focus in Neuroscience) or other relevant fields

Experience

  • Extensive industrial experience in large-molecule drug discovery
  • Significant industrial experience encompassing the entire drug discovery journey from target assessment to Entry into Human
  • Experience leading cell-based assay development for therapeutic candidate selection in physiologically relevant model systems
  • Solid experience in assay readout technologies (flow cytometry, advanced microscopy)
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire highly engaged matrix teams, ideally as a project leader in drug discovery projects
