Job Summary

This doctoral position, based at the Fraunhofer IFAM in Bremen, focuses on pioneering electrochemical methods for recycling critical raw materials (CRMs) from spent batteries within the MeGaBat project. The researcher will be responsible for the entire development cycle, from characterizing CRM sources and designing pre-treatments to developing electrodes for ion pump processes. Key tasks include the design, construction, and scaling up of electrochemical reactors and demonstrators for testing under real-world conditions, while also identifying critical operational modes for cost optimization. The role requires a strong background in electrochemistry or material sciences, practical lab experience, and excellent communication skills. This is an opportunity to contribute to highly current, industry-related research in battery technology and acquire interdisciplinary competencies in an innovative environment.
