Job Summary

The Fraunhofer Institute for Photonic Microsystems (IPMS) seeks a dedicated Engineer for Test and Characterization to join their Engineering, Manufacturing & Test division. This role is crucial for developing and implementing complex test setups for MEMS/MOEMS on wafer and chip levels, supporting both internal research projects and external industry partners in a high-mix, low-volume environment. Day-to-day responsibilities include the autonomous development of test programs, managing associated wafer test and characterization systems, and collaborating closely with designers and technologists to conceive and implement innovative testing methodologies. The ideal candidate will possess a degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field, along with practical knowledge of electrical measurement technology and statistical data analysis. You will be instrumental in analyzing complex metrological tasks, troubleshooting errors, optimizing processes for yield improvement, and ensuring the continuous availability and performance of test equipment. Required Skills

Education

Completed university degree (Uni, FH, BA) in Technical Informatics, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a comparable technical qualification.

Experience

  • Professional experience in test or development environment (desirable, but not mandatory)
  • Knowledge and practical experience in electrical measurement technology
  • Experience in statistical data analysis

Additional

  • The position is initially limited to 2 years (fixed-term contract). Work week is 39 hours, with part-time options available. Compensation is based on the collective agreement for the public sector (TVöD).
