Job Summary
The Senckenberg Museum of Natural History in Görlitz is seeking a dedicated Research Scientist and Curator to lead the Myriapoda section on a tenure-track basis. This role involves scientific and personnel management of the section, including a technical assistant and third-party funded staff. Day-to-day responsibilities focus on the scientific curation and development of the Myriapoda collection, conducting collection-based research on the taxonomy, biology, or ecology of Myriapoda, and publishing results in high-ranking international journals. The ideal candidate holds a doctoral degree in zoology or a related field, possesses excellent knowledge of integrative taxonomy and systematics of Myriapoda, and has a strong research record documented by publications. They must also have experience acquiring third-party funding, managing projects, and guiding staff. Doctoral degree in zoology or a related field
Experience
- Professional experience in scientific curation, management and development of invertebrate collections
- Experience in guiding staff, post-graduate students, or entire workgroups
- Outstanding research record in biology of soil animals, documented by publications in international peer-reviewed scientific journals
- Experience in the acquisition of third-party funding and project management
- Experience in working in international teams

- The position is initially limited (maximum 6 years), with the intention of later permanent employment (Tenure Track) after a positive evaluation. Must be willing to work full-time (40 hours/week) in Görlitz, Saxony.
