Job Summary

This role is critical for securing the digital infrastructure of Germany's most populous district, combining network security engineering with active Security Operations (SecOps). The specialist will actively design, implement, and monitor modern security architectures, collaborating closely with network, infrastructure, and strategic IT teams. Day-to-day tasks include conceptualizing and implementing network-level security measures like firewall rules, segmentation, Network Access Control (NAC), and IDS/IPS. You will operate and optimize firewall systems (e.g., Fortinet, Palo Alto) and VPN gateways, perform hardening, vulnerability analysis, and continuously develop the remote access architecture using concepts like Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) and Zero Trust. A key responsibility involves managing and optimizing the SIEM system, developing use cases, and supporting the creation of Playbooks and SOAR workflows to automate security processes. Ideal candidates possess a degree in IT or a related field, or equivalent experience, coupled with multi-year professional experience in network security and fluent German language skills.
