Job Summary

This role involves establishing and applying advanced structural and functional genomics methods in pome and stone fruit breeding research to enhance efficiency and develop new, resilient varieties. The Scientific Researcher will lead and manage research projects focusing on identifying loci/genes for important horticultural traits using genetic and QTL mapping, GWAS, and Next-Generation Sequencing. Key responsibilities include developing molecular genetic selection methods, overseeing pre-breeding programs, and coordinating crossing programs. The position requires active participation in national and international committees, publishing scientific results in international journals, presenting at conferences, and securing and managing third-party funding and personnel. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly qualified individual with expertise in plant breeding and molecular genetics to contribute to sustainable agriculture in an international research environment.
