Job Summary

This role is for a dedicated Medical Physics Expert (MPE) to join the University Hospital's Department of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine. The successful candidate will be crucial in ensuring radiation protection compliance (StSchG/StrSchG) within radiology applications and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration. A significant part of the job involves contributing to ongoing research projects, focusing on innovative areas such as microtherapeutic imaging procedures, advanced MRI techniques, and new therapeutic approaches for oncology patients, leveraging the hospital's partnership with the STIMULATE research campus. Applicants must hold a Master's degree in Physics or Medical Physics and ideally bring experience in diagnostic ionizing radiation applications, handling open radioactive substances, and hybrid imaging (SPECT/CT, PET/CT). This position offers a stimulating environment with excellent technical resources, providing pathways to achieve full MPE qualification in both Radiology and Nuclear Medicine, and opportunities for doctoral research.

Required Skills

Education

Diploma or Master’s degree in Physics, Medical Physics, or a comparable natural science or engineering discipline; Specialist knowledge in Radiation Protection (X-ray and/or open nuclides) and as a Medical Physics Expert (Radiology and/or Nuclear Medicine) (or willingness to acquire)

Experience

  • Experience in diagnostic radiological application of ionizing radiation (if available)
  • Experience in handling open radioactive substances in medicine (e.g., dosimetry in nuclear medicine therapies) (if available)
  • Experience in Hybrid Imaging (SPECT/CT and PET/CT) (if available)
  • Evidence of collaboration in scientific projects (e.g., current publications) (desirable)
