Job Summary

This role involves supporting the Personnel & Organization department at an innovative university in the Ruhr metropolitan area, focusing specifically on the personnel affairs and appointment procedures for professors. Day-to-day tasks include managing the entire professorial appointment process, from initial advertisement and committee involvement to salary negotiations and final hiring. The specialist will also provide comprehensive advice to university management on appointment and retention procedures, and handle service and compensation law matters (e.g., secondary employment, leave, duty accidents). A key aspect of the role is actively participating in the ongoing digitalization of HR processes, including the implementation of e-files and the further development of digital appointment procedures. Candidates must possess strong administrative and civil service law knowledge, excellent communication skills, and a proactive, customer-oriented approach, ideally complemented by experience in relevant compensation laws and SAP systems.

Required Skills

Education

Required: Successful completion of the examination for Laufbahngruppe 2, 1. Einstiegsamt (formerly: higher civil service) in general administration in North Rhine-Westphalia OR Bachelor of Laws, Business Administration, Administrative Sciences, or a degree focusing on Commercial Law, Personnel Management OR certification as a 'Verwaltungsfachwirt:in' (Angestelltenlehrgang II) with relevant experience.

Experience

  • Knowledge of administrative and civil service law is expected
  • Knowledge of compensation and pension law (e.g., State Civil Servant Law, State Compensation Law) is advantageous
  • Professional experience in relevant legal and administrative fields (required for qualification as a 'Verwaltungsfachwirt:in')
