Job Summary

This Research Associate position, based in Duisburg, focuses on developing and applying advanced diagnostic techniques for analyzing droplet and particle formation mechanisms during spray flame synthesis of nanoparticles, specifically iron oxide. The role involves operating and enhancing existing spray flame reactors, planning and executing experiments using in situ diagnostics like shadowgraphy and Laser-Induced Incandescence (LII), and characterizing synthesized nanoparticles using ex situ methods (BET, XRD, Raman, TEM, SMPS). A significant component of the job is the documentation, interpretation, and analysis of large volumes of image data, utilizing and further developing existing programmed routines and neural networks. This is a 36-month, fixed-term contract offering the opportunity for doctoral studies in a research-intensive, internationally focused academic environment.
