Job Summary

This role is for a highly motivated Research Associate to act as Project Lead for the "Heart-VR" EFRE project, focusing on developing and evaluating Virtual Reality (VR) applications for empathy and resilience training for emergency responders. The successful candidate will coordinate multiple project partners, manage a small team developing digital VR prototypes, and oversee the selection and procurement of necessary equipment. This position requires a strong background in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), empirical research methods, and programming, coupled with an excellent Master's degree in a relevant field like Computer Science or Psychology. Day-to-day work involves cutting-edge research in VR and digital media, teaching support, and administrative tasks, offering a unique opportunity for scientific qualification (Ph.D. track) within a dynamic, research-intensive university environment.

Required Skills

Education

Above-average completed Master's degree (minimum 4 semesters standard study period) in Applied Cognitive and Media Science, Applied Computer Science, Psychology, or a comparable Master's degree program.

Experience

  • Scientific prior experience (e.g., knowledge of empirical research methods and laboratory procedures)
  • Experience with statistical evaluations and corresponding software/applications
  • Experience in coordinating joint work among multiple consortium partners
  • Experience leading a small team of employees

Additional

  • The position is a 75% part-time role. The contract is temporary, running until May 31, 2028, or December 31, 2028 (depending on project duration). Opportunity for scientific further qualification (Ph.D.) is provided.
